At the invitation of the Archbishop of Ranchi, His grace Telespore P. Toppo, the province decided to respond to the needs of the people of Gadalodma and open a mission in the parish of Gadlodma 59 K. M. from the city of Ranchi in December 1997. It is a parish among the tribal people. It is 19 km from the main Road and without any possibility of public transport, electricity and running water.
The sisters are fully involved in pastoral works, education of the children and medical work.
In 2004 we started a dispensary at the request of the people of this area who had no opportunity to get any medical treatment.
Thanks to the Sisters, who shared one room of our convent for this purpose. Now the people are regularly visited by the Sisters in their families and the sick get the necessary care in the dispensary.
The people of the parish were repeatedly requesting the Sisters to begin a hostel for the girls. In the rainy season they cannot send the children to the schools, since they have to cross the rivers and due to certain other inconviences. Since the Sisters did not have place to accommodate the children we could not do so.
But in June 2005, seeing the misery of these girls the Sisters decided to spare one more room of the convent and accommodate the girls who were desperately in need. Now we have just 7 children, who stay with us but if we have many more requests which we can respond to, if we have a hostel built for this purpose. We count on the providence of God and good will of the people.
