Provincial House at Ranchi

Emilie De Vialar
Emilie De Vialar

Due to ill health Sr. Patricia Coogan
returned to England and
Sr. Denys Marie Byrne was sent as
the delegation superior and the novice mistress.

Asha Nivas, the Provicialate at Ranchi
was the fruit of the pioneering efforts of
both Sisters Patricia Coogan and Denys Marie Byrne.

Both these stalwarts were appointed variously
as delegation superiors and
novice mistresses in initial years and
have not spared any efforts
in spite of the hard circumstances and
difficulties to establish the province on the Indian soil.

Their spirit of self-sacrifice and
devotedness has inspired and
formed many of us
who are today at the helm of affairs
in the Indian province.

In 1994, the delegation was made
into province in India.
Sr. Philomena Samuel was
the first Indian Provincial Superior
who took up office in
September 1995 to May 2000.

Sr. Renee Quadros
took over the charge of
the Province of India
on 11th May 2000 and
is the present Provincial
of the province.

A separate block is constructed in 2003 for the Provincialate at Ranchi
in the same compound and was blessed on the 9th February 2003.
