Archbishop Pius Kereketta of Ranchi, who had followed closely the missionary spirit of the Sisters and was happy to receive them into his diocese at Ranchi.
The Sisters of St. Joseph had their first formation house established in the diocese of Ranchi, supported by the bishop of Jamshedpur and the Jesuits of Jamshedpur province.
In October 1973, the newly built formation house which is known today as ' Asha Nivas ' was blessed by Rt. Rev. Drs. J. R. Rodricks, Bishop of Jamshedpur and George Soupin of Daltanganj.
Sister Patricia Coogan, was named the first delegation superior and the mistress of the novices.
In 1974 Sr. Carmen Samut, arrived from Malta to help in the formation of the candidates.
A small house was constructed in the same compound for the formation of the candidates.
Sisters Patricia Coogan, Denys Marie Byrne, Renee Quadros, Arul Mary and Jyothi Samad have worked as the mistresses of novices till to this day.
